  • Painter and teacher, born in Clatterbridge, Wirral, Cheshire. Gained a first-class honours degree in fine art at University of Central England, Birmingham, 1990–3, then his master’s in painting, under Paul Huxley and Peter Doig, Royal College of Art, 1993–5. Was senior lecturer, University of Huddersfield from 1997, having residencies at Gloucester Cathedral, 1999–00, and National Gallery, 2000–1. A solo exhibition based on Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy toured from Gloucester Cathedral, 20
